Hinaki - David Trubridge
“Fish traps are called Hinaki by Maori, though often the name is used specifically for an eel trap. They were made from woven vines, some in amazingly beautiful forms. The first light I ever made in 1995 was also shaped like this and called Hinaki. Our kitsets significantly reduce freighting, which is one of our ways of doing what we can to help preserve our beautiful sea and land environments” - David Trubridge
The Hinaki comes in three sizes with bamboo plywood as the main material which can be all Natural or Caramel, or painted on one side, plus double-sided Black or White, thus creating a selection of different options.
Natural Plywood, Caramel, Red, Lime, Aqua, Blue, Pink, Orange, White, Black

The Hinaki pendant is made from sustainably sourced natural bamboo plywood. The caramel bamboo starts out as natural and is carbonised using steam to caramelise the natural sugars which darken the bamboo. This process creates a different look without the use of chemicals. For the colour selections an acrylic low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint is used.
